1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They help the website recognize your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences and login status. Similar technologies include local storage (localStorage), which stores data in your browser for longer-term use.
- How We Use Cookies How cookies are handled depends on which part of the Service you are using:
Alula platform (CareSpaces): Analytics, functional, and marketing cookies are active by default. You can opt out at any time through our cookie settings (see Section 3 below). - Your Cookie Choices 3.1 Opting Out You can opt out of non-essential cookies (functional, analytics, and marketing) at any time by accessing the cookie settings link in the footer of the Service. When you opt out, the change takes effect immediately for new data collection. Data already collected will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. 3.2 Cookie Settings Banner When you first visit Alula, a cookie notice will inform you that we use cookies and provide options to manage your preferences. On the Alula platform (CareSpaces), you may:
Continue browsing with all cookies active (the default). Manage Preferences to opt out of specific cookie categories (functional, analytics, marketing).
On the editorial website, because our content covers health-related topics, non-essential cookies do not activate until you take action. You may:
Accept to enable analytics and marketing cookies. Decline to continue browsing without analytics or marketing cookies. Manage Preferences to choose specific cookie categories.
3.3 Preference Records We store a record of your cookie preferences, including a unique identifier, the date and time of your choices, the version of the cookie policy, and which categories you opted out of (if any). This record is stored server-side and is retained to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations. 3.4 Browser Settings Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically set your browser to refuse cookies, delete existing cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the Service from functioning properly.
4. Local Storage
In addition to cookies, we use your browser's local storage (localStorage) to store certain data on your device. Local storage data does not expire automatically like cookies and persists until it is explicitly cleared. The local storage items used by the Service are described in the cookie tables above.
5. Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting or support the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If we detect a GPC signal from your browser, we will treat it as a request to opt out of analytics and marketing cookies in accordance with applicable state privacy laws.
6. Third-Party Cookies
We do not allow third parties to place advertising cookies on the Service. The only third-party cookies that may be set are through PostHog (analytics) and Google (if you use Google OAuth for sign-in).
7. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and may reset cookie preferences to ensure you have the opportunity to review the updated policy.
